This is a prime example of bead embroidery. I was given this piece of glass from Hurst’s handblown glass, and decided to use it as a focal piece. It’s so full of streaks and bubbles, it’s so beautiful. All those streaks and bubbles of colors in this glass piece set the tone for the spiral chain, with silver, turquoise, pink and purple. My process for this piece included gluing the glass to felt and using seed beads I formed an enclosed bezel, I then added some Chinese crystals that sit along side the seed beads for additional support. This piece needed more support due to the weight of the glass and I used three layers of paper and glue as is traditional with this beading technique. A backing of velvet is attached with seed beads along the edges. It’s an amazing piece using the talents of two artists. This necklace is 18″ long with a 2″ extender making this necklace 20″ long. The beaded pendant is 2″ L by 1 1/2″ W. This purchase comes with a gift box, and cleaning cloth.
