“And when the world makes me feel less than I am.
I will return to the hot sun on my skin and to the mountains.” ~Melissa Genevese Helman~
Mexican art has taken the red sands, the hot yellow sun and the blue skies and placed it in the colors that decorate their home, clothes and art. I created this earring with the colors of Mexico and the creative people who live there.
My first layer of beads was a white opalized delica bead. These beads lay flat on surfaces and make a great area to build on. Next I used a light sky blue and azure blue round glass seed beads along with some different types of gold round beads and a dark Siam red bead with an opalescence shine. I added clear tear drops and a larger faceted tear drop for the center bead, both made in Czechoslovakia. For the center drop I used a yellow dyed howlite star shaped stone and attached it with a head pin. I used a gold filled ear wire to complete the look and earrings.
The earrings measure 1 3/4″ wide and 2 7/8″ long. These earrings weigh in at 3 ounces and come with a cleaning cloth, plastic earring backs and a gift box.
